Gothic Appalachia

The Appalachian Son is coming to Anderson

On September 5, Carolina Bauernhaus invites you to Gothic Appalachia for an evening of what haunts our mountains -- old stories, murder ballads, and shadowy folklore.

Featuring music from The Appalachian Son and The Down Homesteaders.

Come on down to the Bauern to hear songs about misplaced love, untimely death, and the strange things that happen when you go whistling in the woods.

Presented at Carolina Bauernhaus in downtown Anderson, where Southern agriculture, craft beer, fermentation, and music gather round the table.

7:00-8:00 PM ~ The Down Homesteaders: The Down Homesteaders play music that is rich in the traditions of the Appalachian Mountains, carrying the stories of a bygone era. Their dedication to preserving and celebrating these timeless melodies provides a bridge between the past and the present, inviting new generations to appreciate and participate in the enduring legacy of Old Time music. David Thornton on vocals, banjo & mandolin; Alex Pellett on harmonica & washtub bass; Casey Certain on vocals, spoons & bones; Mary Glenn on fiddle & vocals.

8:15-10:00 PM ~ The Appalachian Son: Bringing a voice to Appalachian folklore, The Appalachian Son is a southern gothic band that blends haunting melodies with rich narratives that honor the history of Southern Appalachia. Expect dark music to dance to...or be bewitched by.
